Friday, November 01, 2013. Today's Liturgical Reading by Daily Flash, Goa.
All Saints Day

Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14; Psalm 23[24]:1-6; 1 John 3:1-3; Gospel : Mathew 5:1-12. [Please share today's Gospel with family,friends/neighbors.]

Focus: "Blessed are those who hunger and th
irst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (Mathew 5:6)

Our country is considered to be one of the most corrupt nations on earth, isn't it sad? What is my dream for my country, I ask myself? It is "righteousness" (Focus) - to see myself and all people doing what is right. No cheating, but transparency; trusting and loving one another; and being genuine in what we think, say and do. Always.

Jesus says we are blessed if we yearn for righteousness (Gospel) because this strong desire will lead us to act. For our words and actions to carry weight we need to be totally detached, listening to our conscience at all times, and acting in a way that we know to be right. Then we will leave no stone unturned till we see that all around us are cared for and respected.

Today we think of the saints - that multitude of marvelous persons 'that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages... robed in white' (Rev 7:9); people who longed for God and righteousness . Their focus was on Him continually and now they are in glory. We too can inherit the place that eye has not seen, nor ear heard and where every tear will be wiped away... if we are righteous.

Fruit: Let me speak to God seeking the truth; then plan with a friend to fight for the rights of people in my workplace or neighborhood.
